Dear Lactnet Friends:

Pamela describes discovering on a Facebook list that a woman she counseled
has gone on to do other than what was recommended.

Is it ethical to write back to the woman?

Unless she contacts you, I say 'no'. She never had an official consultation
with you, never saw you, never paid you. She was collecting information and
made a choice.

Even if she had an official consultation with you, she is still free to go
on her own merry way, despite your concerns.

Frustrating part of healthcare, not only lactation work, is watching
clients do things that don't serve them.

warmly,

Nikki Lee RN, BSN, Mother of 2, MS, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI, ANLC, CKC
