virginia said, " We might think of the "normal"
progression as exclusive BF - mixed feeding - weaning.
That's not necessarily the progression in cultures
where BF is treated very matter-of-factly. It can be
any of a variety of progressions, resumptions,
progressions."

thank you so much for realising that. As the infamous
Dr. Phil* guest who "let her 8 year old nurse for
Pete's sake!" last year, I have gotten so much flack
for allowing my daughter to nurse again, and even
teaching her to do so properly. In fact, I just
answered an email about it today. :-) My dd wasnt'
ready to wean. She still isn't. She still misses it.
She may be almost 9, (she was 7 when we went on the
gubernaculum's show) and she reads better than George
Bush, participates in sports, but she's still a little
girl. She appeared so grown up to me when I conceived
her sister when she was 18 mos old, but she wasn't.
She looked grown up when she started school at 5. But
she wasn't. We have to let these little people grow
as they need, not how as we think they should. I
realise that over and over again. :-) When will our
culture? I regret pushing her away from nursing, even
when I'm uncomfortable (physically) doing it.

We, btw, get frequent criticism for having her in a
toddler bed in our room. I'd love to hear that
addressed- off list, of course.

*is that infamous guest, or "guest on an infamous
show"? :-)
