The recent article in Pediatrics by Scariati et al describes the benefits of
BF being dose-related. The study was done by the US Centers for Disease
Control and is very rigorous.

Scariati PD, Grummer-Strawn LM, Fein SB. A Longitudinal analysis of infant
morbidity and the extent of breastfeeding in the US. Pediatrics 1997;
99(6):e5 Reprints from the Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta GA

Any human milk is better than none. A lot is better than a little. Exclusive
for 6+ months is better than a lot. Longer is better than shorter. Some
research shows differences after even just ONE feeding ("ever-fed"
definition of BF).
