Coach Smith here - I gotta comment on this one. Good summary of the issue,
Lindsay!

In another life I was a physical education teacher. In the initial
(sensationalized) study of this issue, the babies rejected the post-exercise
milk - but the milk was DROPPER-FED, not breastfed directly. It's entirely
likely that the (smart) babies didn't like the dropper, when they were
accustomed to being directly breastfed.

Of course lactating women can exercise. The biggest "risk" is bouncing
breasts during running or jogging, which can be solved by wearing a decent
supportive bra. This isn't much different an issue from that dealt with by
women with large breasts, lactating or not. Women all over the world do very
strenuous exercise (they call it "normal work") all day and nurse their
babies for years.

In my 30+ years of working with breastfeeding women, I've never encountered
a single client / mother whose baby consistently refused to nurse after the
mother exercised.
