>>catherine said, " In Lynn's client's case, perhaps
some oxytocin
nasal spray would be helpful in conditioning the MER."<<

Unfortunately not with this Mom. She did manage several MERs over the course
of the feeding on her own thus leading me to believe that it is the
*canalization* (like that word!) that is the issue. More perplexing in light
of the fact that she only had cysts removed.

Kate writes;
>>A few years ago I counseled by email a woman who used
it, but never was able to achieve a spontaneous MER.
I believe she weaned because she was unable to
continue to afford the oxytocin.  She had not had
reduction or surgery and was working with an IBCLC in
person in addition to email with me.  I've always been
puzzled by that situation.<<

strange indeed. The unusual presentation reminds me of a strange case that
always pops into my mind when thinking along these lines. *My* mom had
*normal* lactogenesis by all appearances up until the point that the milk
needed to be moved out of the breast. Despite 2 children, (the first
readmitted w/ dehydration at 1 wk) , engorged breasts and 2 wks of trying, we
could never express a drop of milk, not one drop!
