A while ago I asked if anyone knows of any research at all, sponsored by
Avent or done independently, to support the strong claims in the Avent
advertising materials that their bottle teats 'imitate the form and function
of the breast' so that babies can 'switch between breast and bottle with no
problems' (now I am quoting from the Norwegian materials, my translation).

To date no one has responded, including Avent, though their Norwegian
'opinion employee' (my translation again) has repeatedly assured me over the
last 4-5 weeks that the studies are being sent from HQ in England any moment
now. In our most recent conversation, she offered to have 'their'
pediatrician phone me up from England himself. She was surprised that I
recognized his name, by the way. I had to tell her in no uncertain terms
that I was not interested in having a phone conversation with 'their'
pediatrician, I wanted to see the published research articles by him or
anyone else, preferably from refereed journals, in support of what I suspect
is a fantastic claim (as in 'based on fantasy') about these silicone feeding
teats.

And that is why this pediatrician won't be phoning me up after all. Maybe I
should have let him, just to be able to tell him that the Norwegian Avent
representative describes him as 'their' pediatrician.

If there is someone from Avent monitoring this list, they will have to
reveal themselves to me personally before I will reveal the name of the
pediatrician in question. Out of consideration for the pediatrician I will
not post it here, in case the Norwegian representative has her facts wrong.
It wouldn't be the first time, and I would hate to malign anyone wrongly for
being in cahoots with a company who pushes bottle feeding as blithely as
Avent does.
