Bar-Yam writes:Wow! That is amazing. How do we know that formula has to have a shelf
life of 2 years? I assume we;re talking about the powdered kind. What
about the liquid formula? And yes, if anyone know what it takes for
something to have a shelf life that long, please enlighten the rest of
us.>>

writes:In Canada, all manufactured formula must have a shelf life of THREE
years, not two. Actually I think it's the same in the US and everywhere because of
international product laws.

I'm flabbergasted at the implications of this!>>

Me too!, I think parents would be too, and this is why I hope we can get more
details about the process for this shelf life, so as to be able to elaborate
when expectant and new parents ask about formula use, or comparing formula to
BrMlk.......

ie;" Would you/Do you/ Which would you prefer/want ....your baby to have
fresh milk made continously *every time your heart beats*, and stored for a number
of minutes or hours in the original container, your breast, or a concoction
of artifical/engineered ingredients that has been sitting in a can or plastic
on a shelf for some number of years?"

In a message dated 11/12/2003 8:45:24 AM Eastern Standard Time, Valerie
reports:
The following patent states that sterilized infant formula has a shelf life
of 1 1/2 years. I believe I have also seen 2 years but have no reference for
that. One of my posts was written rather poorly and the impression seems to
be
that I am saying that genetic engineering increases shelf life. I wasn't
saying that. The following patent is worth reading.>>
yet another scandal uncovered!! ....and by Valerie again!!

the dire wording in this patent should be on every container of formula and
be included in any informed consent to give formula.
