Hello!
     I am a junior at the Louisiana State University School of Nursing.
I am currently in my Maternal-Child Health clinical rotation, and one of
our assignments is to interview several members of the collaborative
team regarding their role in providing health care to pregnant families.
I was recently introduced to the Internet, and I thought using it would
be an interesting way to complete this project.  If you care to reply, I
am interested in what exactly you do in the care of the pregnant family
(i.e., what a typical birth is like for you, are you involved
prenatally, does your care continue after the birth, etc.).  Also, what
is your philosophy of care; do you - and if so, how do you - collaborate
with the nurse to achieve patient outcomes; what trends/changes in
maternity care have you witnessed since you began practicing?  I am also
interested in your educational/personal background - what kind of
training did you receive (what was the curriculum like, how long were
you in training, etc.), and what led you to pursue that training?

I am interested in responses from anyone, but
particularly from physicians, doctors, lactation consultants, doulas,
and, of course, midwives.
