The midwives in the hospital where I worked used to get so annoyed when
they'd spent days helping a mother with breastfeeding problems just to find
she weaned. And I'd often hear them lament of other mothers - oh she'll put
the baby on the bottle as soon as she gets home. OK maybe she will, maybe
she won't - I would console myself (and them) with the fact that the baby
did at least get some breastmilk for a day or two at the most critical time
of its life. Something is better than nothing.
