We have a TCB monitor on our unit. Per the manufacturer, if a bili level
on the monitor is 15 or higher, a blood sample must be obtained. We have
found that levels under 15 are pretty accurate, however when the monitor
indicates the level is 15 or higher, we have seen the blood level is
sometimes 3 points higher. Our monitor requires its testing on the
forehead of an infant.
