Feeding during  milking enhances milking-related oxytocin secretion and milk production in dairy cows whereas food deprivation decreases it.  K. Svennersten et all, Acta Physiol Scand 1995, 153, 309-310.
Interesting food for thought, how might this relate to the lactating woman? who we always tell to get a drink when she sits down to nurse.  Maybe we need to tell her to have a snack!  Pat in SNJ, who doesn't know whether or not to keep this animal study :-(
