I have had many mothers on the WIC program tell me they prefer the Elite
over the Lactina. They have been using a Lactina in the hospital, or perhaps
rent one before contacting WIC. These moms are pumping for their premature
babies. I have had one mom start out renting her own Symphony and then get
certified on the WIC program and after her month's rental was up we lent her
an Elite. She got the same amount of milk, thought they felt the same as far
as comfort, except that the Elite's flanges were wider in the tunnel area
and fit her larger nipples better than the regular Medela ones. I have had
just 2 or 3 in two years prefer the Lactina. Not scientific, I know, but
interesting. Part of this may be that the hospital pumps are not checked on
vacuum gauges like the WIC pumps are.
