Hi Katja (my daughter nearly had that name!)
If this mother is experiencing a dip in supply, I would think that the
culprit is the condition for which she is undergoing treatment (looks like
asthma, probably acute, possibly virally induced, possibly with a secondary
infection? - I have no medical training but recognise this treatment regime
- been there done that). This is likely to cause her to feel aweful and
possibly be dehydrated. My first suggestion would be to increase her fluid
intake - and take it easy. She needs to be kind to herself. Feed the baby
when it is hungry. The small amounts of steriods the baby receives via
breastmilk pose a much smaller risk than a switch to artificial feeding
because of low supply.
Hope this helps
