hello all!
Just scrolling along and wanted to voice my humble opinion:
~ I love the phrase 'detachment parenting and the "chemical feast"' (Patricia
Gima) Sounds like an off-Broadway play about the downward spiral of our
modern society...
~on caffeine : "caffeine is the only drug that is widely added to the food
supply...is a mildly addictive drug, and parents might wish to limit their
children's consumption of it" Turn the addiction to the parents who are
"addicted" to the need for it, and it's easy to substitute "formula" for
"caffeine", (as per Dr. Jack's comment that AIM should be considered a drug,
"Breastfeeding Abstracts" article May 1997,but I just got my issue)
~BF booth . One way to encourage public nursing, but allow for individual
needs for privacy would be to have several baby slings at the booth which
moms can be helped to "nurse under" for privacy if they wish. Easier to carry
around a sling than a screen at the Mall...

to lactate, why not the same for women?! This is a sign of a confused society
that researchers spend time and energy pondering how to help men lactate
while US moms still lament, and professionals still tell them, that THEY
cannot . Right on Debi!
~ finally, thanks to Andrea Eastman for posting all the websites for those
journals we often refer to. What organization!
Lactnet is terrific! Judy Fram, Brooklyn, who just returned from the
Park where a dead bat became my jumping off point to talk to some camp kids
about mammals and nursing! Hey I take my opportunties where I see em' ...
