I would suggest reading in the archives about guilt....written by Katherine
Dettwyler.  Do they take down the no smoking signs because they don't want
to make smoking mothers feel guilty? Do they stop teaching about carseats
because they don't want to make mothers who let babies ride shotgun feel
guilty?  Do they stop teaching about immunization because they don't want
mothers who choose not to immmunize  to feel guilty?

What is the disconnect here?  Paternalism? Hmm.  It is the MD's job to teach
the facts, and present the evidence, and the parents' job to respond and
make informed decisions, which they cannot do if professionals pussyfoot
around.
