The reference (final published version after many corrections because of
errors in the study design) is:
Hoey C and Ware JL.Economic Advantages of Breastfeeding in an HMO Setting: A
Pilot Study. Am J Managed Care 1997; 3: 861-865.  The final savings figure was
$200 per breastfed infant, but the study did not reach statisrtcal
significance because of the small sample sizes.  The also did not control for
race.  As much as I want to believe this info, it is just what it says, a
PILOT STUDY.  The editorial in the same journal issue was none too kind
either!!
