Hi there,

Can anyone refer me to evidenced best practice articles for length of times mom should be pumping when their baby is unable to go to the breast? Initially our practice at the hospital where I work was recommending 5-5-5-5 for a total of 20 minutes. Paula Meier's new study (not yet published) for the Preemie +1 Medela Program pumps for 15 minutes. How long should mother's of term babies be pumping for adequate breast milk removal?

Thanks
Brenda
