Yeast overgrowth occurs when something happens to set up conditions for the
yeast to change from the benign form to the pathogenic one. The very young
and the very old are more susceptible.

It's rather sad IMHO that the baby's doc isn't more familiar with yeast in a
7 m old.....

Is the baby otherwise healthy?

Sounds as if this young 'un may have a resistant form of yeast and need
something different from nyastatin or gentian violet (and what the dosing and
strength of the GV were).

Since yeast can replicate in *30 minutes* (that's not a typo), many mothers
have asked their doctors if they can give the yeast half as much twice as
often. I personally haven't had a doc tell a client no to this.

Persistent yeast overgrowths are sometimes signs of other things, such as
diabetes. Again, IMHO, it wouldn't hurt to rule that out.

Also, if the baby is on solids, it would be prudent not to feed him foods
which yeast loves.
