This actually has been discussed at length before.  I would just like to
point out that the vast majority of women in North America have episiotomies
(unfortunately). And many breastfeed, and heal just fine.  So why does the
occasional mother who has a problem with healing always get told that it is
because she is breastfeeding.  I would ask the ob for studies which prove
that.  Breastfeeding is too important to sacrifice on the altar of
ignorance.  (Haven't said that for a while--feels good to say it).
