Lucy asks about different personalities in children who self wean at
different times. All I can do is give some anecdotal info. I had a friend
who's son weaned at age 1, cold turkey. HE was miserable about it and so
was she and her husband, who are both into attachment parenting. They were
really dismayed. But they said that it was his personality to do things all
at once. He also got up and walked one day, and anything he did was kind of
that way. My daughter who weaned before age two was a real business nurser,
nursed for food and used a pacifier for comfort. She could take that around
with her. I felt she didn't have the patience to hang out at the breast.
Her older brother loved to just BF for ages and ages and kept at it until
we encouraged him to stop at 3 1/2.
Hope this helps add to your data base.
