I could be mistaken, but I believe it has been in existence since (Maybe)
1996, though I think I first became aware of it in 1997.

UCLA started their program in 1982, BSC in about 1985, and I think the
Lactation Institute sometime in 1981 (forgive me if I'm off a year or so).
Those were the first three programs offering any type of basic lactation
management education in a systemitized format.  The program of which you speak
was preceeded by that group doing one day workshops around the US.  Their
"CLC" program is a recent addition to the mix.

Jan Barger, who sent out the list of available programs from ILCA for a number
of years (1991 to 1995, and theirs wasn't on it).
