<< Hi Marie--As to the test weight figure I quoted,>>
Kathy,
I wasn't challenging your sources at all because I have those articles too.
I think everyone assumes them to be about accurate. I want(ed) to know if we
have any research based information on just how much breastmilk weighs. I
think we have to be careful when we get into the area of guestimates--what if
the baby looses weight and the mom gives up breastfeeding as a result--that
kind of thing. IMHO the whole test weighing thingthing started to get out of
hand when rental scales became available.

And I am not talking about NOT using them for AT RISK babies!!

But these scales, with some of my contacts, are one of the gizmos they think
they have to have. "Well the LC used one in her office so I thought I should
get one at home yada, yada..." I am not kidding this is really happening out
there.

Plus I have this OCD type mom with the test weights having all sorts of
problems (Thank you to the person who suggested that this could be a
manifestation of PPD)

Can anyone say raw nerves? (mine)

I talked the mom into taking a nursing vacation--strict bedrest (potty as
needed and a shower a day), with the baby beside her. She said she was going
to lock the door behind her and the baby and let hubby take care of the other
kids (very willing dh) from Friday night to Monday morning. She would only
let him slide food in between naps. I hope this works for her.

She is supposed to let me know how it went.

and a cozy fire it hasn't gotten over 69 in a week and it's been wet.
