> She called me after she read that casein can cause issues for up to  two weeks (or more) after removal from the diet.  She was wondering how  long the tree nut proteins would continue to linger in breastmilk?  She  said the hives only last 10min or so now and then  disappear.

Typical presentation of urticaria.
Most probably the problem is not in the mother "supply" in the breast 
milk, but in the kid's "storage" of the offending proteins.

It can take 2-3 weeks or even longer to clear the problem.
As long as lesions are diminishing in frequency and severity - I don't 
think that anything else should be done.
