Hi all--Joy Berry-Parks here, using Dr. Smillie's computer (and home, and
 office, and support) to do my research on factors influencing breastfeeding
 durations (i.e, how moms who nurse longer differ from moms who nurse for
 shorter times).

 It is nice to be in contact with you all again!  Talk about network
support--a
 week of lactnet-free existence has made a negative impact on my life!

 At any rate, my question is this:  I have been searching the archives for
info
 on asthma prevention through breastfeeding.  There is a taskforce here
working
 on asthma, but no one is looking at breastfeeding, and the director of the
 whole project wants some info to present so the people higher up (the
funders,
 I suspect) can be persuaded to support breastfeeding.

 What I have found is that (at least on Med Line) there is not much info to
 support the idea that bf reduces a child's risk for asthma.  Yet I know
 I have read somewhere (sound familiar?), at some point, that there was a
 negative correlation.

 Does anyone have any hints on how to hit this info in the archives (have
tried
 asthma prevention and asthma) or just new info?  I have spoken with the CBI
at
 LLLI and they do not list asthma as one of their "packets" of info (research
on
 specific preventative effects by bf on different illnesses and problems).

 Any help, as usual, is greatly appreciated.

 By the way, the research is going wonderfully.  A full report will be
 forthcoming.
