Subject: Finger feeding a premie
When I suggested a premie of 4lbs 3oz who would not use an sns at the =
breast try using the sns and finger feed to conserve energy I was told =
could not do that because baby might choke. I have tried this many times =
before and never had a problem but the Neo. doesnt allow this in his =
NICU. Has anyone had a problem or know where to find scientific evidence =
to support this?

Please post info on this subject to the list as it is very relevant here. I
do know that Riordan and Auerbach list as a benefit of finger feeding that
there is no risk of aspiration. Anything specific to NICU would be greatly
appreciated as I am climbing a mountian in our NICU to change attitudes, much less
policy, on alt. feeding methods.
