I have searched Pit in the archives and have confirmed what I suspected is
the problem with a present case. What I want to ask is how long does this
drug and its accompaniments take to leave the mother and baby's systems? At
two weeks the baby still has his tongue on the roof of his mouth and there
is very little rooting and he won't open his mouth wide. The two weeks of
silicone teats doesn't help either. Mom is feeding with cup into the second
day. Baby has latched a couple of times after a full stomach, but when he
is hungry he seems so frantic and that tongue is up,up,up and the only open
mouth is crying.

This was an induced birth one week early. (Why? Because the first two were.)
I didn't see the couple until one week of age so I don't know if nipple
edema was a factor. Of course, the circ caused a shut-down. All of these
interventions are not how this little fellow planned it.

Would silicone teat or finger feeding work better than cup for getting the
tongue down?
