Here is a question for in-Hospital LC's especially those who are Certified
Baby Friendly Hospitals.....Let's say you need to refer a mom outside of the
hospital to get ( purchase or rent a pump). How do you ethically present the
options?

1)  Pass out a list of all available resources including LCs with depots,
Pharmacies, DMEs, and Department stores?
2)  Pass out a list of the reputable LC/DME (with support) venues?
3)  Verbally list three options (variety of sources) Drug store, Department
store, LC depot)?

NOW if your hospital (a certified Baby Friendly Hospital) just opened up a
Breastfeeding depot

Do you:
1)  ONLY offer the hospital depot (for rent or sale)?
2)  Go back to previous lists INCLUDING the hospital depot?

My question is: is there ethical ruling about whether a Dr can refer to a
DME or MRI or radiology business (owned by Dr) ONLY? or must he/she refer to
other referrals including his/her business?

Does this ethical ruling apply to hospitals or must a hospital refer to ALL
available sources for supplies, diagnostics or care?

Please answer privately to me as well as the group as I am presently *no
mail*.
