A mother has asked me about disadvantages to freezing breast milk as
opposed to refrigerating it. She is specifically interested in
information on loss of immunologic properties. I have searched LLLI's
Breastfeeding Answer Book and don't see the information. I tried the
Lactnet archives and found only this in a posting from last September:
"the white blood cells survive refrigeration, but die in the freezer.
The less we process milk, the more of the immunological properties are
intact."  Can anyone offer more specifics? Thanks,
