On the subject of books to help educate mothers about birth, I have found
"Methods of Childbirth" by Constance Bean extremely helpful in preparing for
a hospital birth.  She lists a variety of interventions that are possible,
the conditions under which they might be indicated, and the possible dangers
or side effects of all of them.
