Elisa: Your question is about three meds: soma, darvocet and voltaren.
Soma is a muscle relaxant, no data, but robaxin (methocarbamol), another
muscle relaxant, is on the AAP list of compatible meds. Darvocet is a
combination of darvon (compatible) and acetaminophen (Tylenol),
therefore must be compatible. Voltaren is an NSAID, not listed, but
there are many other NSAID's such as ibuprofen, naproxen, mefenamic acid
and ketorolac, which are compatible. Hope this helps. Remember also,
that this baby is 5 1/2 months old, probably nursing less frequently than
a neonate and less vulnerable to medication side effects. Also, if the
mother is concerned, she should take the meds just after nursing or prior
to baby's longest sleep period. Alicia. [log in to unmask]
