Hi Shannon,
According to what info I have been able to find on this test, it is
performed using Technetium Sestamibi and it is done to check for blockage
of the coronary arteries.

The NRC does not make any difference with regards of the type of test,
they only make difference with regards to isotope. For most tests with Tc
a waiting period of 12h is recommended. One test requires 24h and this is
due to the higher activity used in the test.

You are right and interrupting breastfeeding *before* the test does not
make any sense from the point of view of radiation protection to the
nursling. Thay may have other reasons to do this, but from the
radiological point of view I have naver heard of this.

Maybe they are using other isotope, and then the waiting period *after*
the test may be longer.

You can access NRC's table in Dr Hale's Site (in addition to NRC's site,
but at Dr Hale's site it is easier to find) or I can send it to you if you
cannot find it.

Best regards,

Veronica

my arteries. I'm also nursing and the guidelines say to stop nursing
for 3 days before the test (I would think it would say after the test).
I've nursed for almost 11 years straight and my latest nursling is
almost four years old, but we have not ever stopped cold turkey for a
few days before. I wanted to double check that I should either stop
nursing (and assume 3 days *after* and not *before the test) or whether
the guidelines are a precaution for infants.
