I got a question from a mom who is pregnant and nursing a toddler. Her
toddler had coxackie virus(I'm not sure of the spelling). She (the toddler)
had blisters or lesions in the back of her mouth and in her throat. The mom
developed clear raised areas on her nipple that were hard. Nursing was
extremely painful (more so than just nursing during pregnancy) and the pain
lasted after the feed was finished. I've looked in my references and can't
find the information. I've also checked the archives but didn't come up with
anything. Are the lesions and the raised areas related? Any issues for the
mom? The new baby is not due for another 3 months. She has stopped nursing
the toddler at this point because she thought that they may be passing
something back and forth. Any thoughts?
