I heard a joke on Jay Leno (for those not in the US - a major late night
talk show host)about this.  Of course he made breastfeeding seem a little
wacky, but this mom certainly didn't help.  She claims that driving while
bf isn't excessively dangerous.

Mom Faces Charges for Breastfeeding and Driving:
June 13, 2003 — A Pennsylvania woman is facing criminal charges for
allegedly driving while breastfeeding. Police in Portage County Ohio pulled
Katherine Donkers over on the Ohio Turnpike when he saw what she was
doing.  Donkers did have a child seat in the back of the car, but the baby,
which appeared to be 2 or 3 months old, was on her mothers lap. She is now
facing several charges, including driving without a valid license, and
child safety seat violations.

You can see her being led out of the driver's seat with babe in arms (after
the commercial).

I've talked with moms who have bent over their babies in carseats to nurse
them, but this was a new one on me.
