It is my thought that vit E should not be used on nipples. The risks of
toxicity are present.  Fixing the latch, and perhaps using Jack Newman MD's
nipple cream compound (see his work at www.breastfeedingonline.com for the
prescription directions) are more effective. As a professional, I would not
advise vit E, as it goes against the recommendations of knowlegeable folks
such as Tom Hale, etc, and may cause harm.
