Beth reported on a study that said:

They are looking at the wrong thing -- what they needed to look at is how
long it took, once supplements were given w/ a bottle, to establish effective
feeds. I would agree that offering a supplement w/ a bottle in the first few
days of life for a baby that has latched on and attached well, and is having
no difficulty getting onto the breast (esp if the mom has nipples like
Evenflo bottle nipples), probably will not affect the longevity of
breastfeeding. But what I really want to know is the difficulty of
establishing effective latch and milk transfer once supplements w/ a bottle
have been introduced.
