On the heels of all the discussion about babies' needs & how they are disregarded: a friend of mine, exclusively breastfeeding her 3 month old (relatively frequent feeder) who has never even had a bottle of EBM, has been called to jury duty. Despite a letter from the doctor stating that the baby's only source of nutrition was breastfeeding, the court has told her she must be there and must NOT bring her baby. She is (very understandably) upset about the prospect of having to fight to stay with her child, very worried that she will be forced to leave him and concerned that doing so may lead to nipple confusion &/or nursing strike...so I was wondering if anyone has new info on existing &/or pending Oregon / USA law pertaining to the situation or any input into what the court needs to hear in this case??? Thanks!!
