This post is only relevant to Canadians.

I have received a request from a freelance journalist who is researching an article on breastfeeding and the new year-long maternity leave in Canada. She was wondering if the extended leave encourages moms to continue breastfeeding for a longer period of time and if anyone is doing research in this area?

Please let me know if you can help me out on this one or suggest someone who might be able to. She would like to speak to someone in the next few days if possible, or immediately after Christmas.

(I'm thinking a Public Health Nurse, or someone who sees moms after the newborn stage, who might be able to verify that it seems like moms ARE bfing longer now since they don't have to go back to work until one year. Or a mom who has bfed children both under the 6 month, and the one year leave?)

Please reply to me ASAP (off-list), as I expect this journalist to be in touch over the weekend.
