Please respond to me privately. I work in a hospital. I have brought up two
ideas here to the management group, that I need some references for. 1) how
can we get babies to breastfeed in the first 2 hrs. of life with a C/S
mother? Who keeps babies in this situation in the DelRm(OR)with the mother?
and if so or not, how does the baby bypass, or not, the nursery and all that
routine?, when there is so much to recovering a mother these days? 16 yrs
ago when I had my C/S, they stayed in the room with me and the monitoring of
me (the mother) was not near as complicated. Both nursed as soon as it was
feasible in the recovery room. Not so here.
2) Does anyone tub bath their newborns for their first bath? We did this my
only year working at Evergreen in Kirkland, WA. I loved it, much less
stress on babies, they loved the immersion. Now it seems the 'right' thing
to do here, less stress, better breastfeeding because there is less energy
drain, better blood sugars, less crying, etc, etc.
Sorry for the off topic, but I don't know of a better group I could ask. I
look forward to the responses. Thanks ahead of time!
