I too have seen tenosynovitis of the wrist of base of thumb. I have usually
associated it with the way women bend their wrists and thumbs when doing
the cradle hold while nursing, and when the heavier child is carried alot
on the hip. I recommend ice/heat, ibuprofen prn, and I will give either a
velco wrist splint or a thumb spica splint, depending on  which
tendons/joints are bothered.Anne Eglash MD
