I, too, was interested to see the disclaimer after the BF talks. But the
cynical side of me kept my cockles from being fully warmed. I'm reminded of
the propaganda that the MO legislature used when trying (and succeeding!) to
legalize a lottery for the state. They said, "All funds raised by the
Lottery will be used to further education in the state of Missouri". What
then happened, is that the $ from the Lottery WAS used for education--but
other $ in the budget was removed from the education coffers & channeled
somewhere else. Is this what MOD did? Those of us who do conference
planning know that funds come from a variety of sources. Just "tweaking" the
budget so that those 5 talks were listed as being funded by someone else,
doesn't really address the big issue, which is that M.J. is STILL the primary
sponsor of the conference, and STILL will be mightily present with all their
propaganda in hand. Sigh.
