Jodine, I totally agree with your post and the pump companies assertions
make me annoyed.  Now, if they had a mother who was HIV positive pumping  and
then tested the motor and found the virus in it, then I could be convinced  that
there was a potential risk.  Breast pump companies are a business  first and
foremost and that is what all of us have to remember.  They want  to make
profits.  I am not saying they do not consider input from our  profession and want
to make a good product but they are not really giving  anything away and want
to sell as many pump and products as possible.
When I state that the LC profession is evidence based, this theory that
pumps can cross contaminate other women is not evidence based.
