4 different hospitals (actually five but one position was per diem) as a
Lactation Consultant, non RN, only IBCLC. My last job description read "RN
preferred, Spanish speaking preferred, IBCLC required)" I have acquired some
Spanish speaking skills but no RN (yet). I know there are a few of us here in
Illinois with NO college degree prior to LC employment. I've learned a lot in
the hospital setting which compliments my LLL background with older babies.
I've also learned that all is not how it seems in the first few days and not
to rely on "generalities" rather than focus on individual specifics. I enjoy
every day (well, most of the time) at work.
