Hi All,

Just got a call from a mom whose baby was born at 25/26 wks Jan 31, 2010.
Baby just came home. Had a rough go of it. 2 bouts of NEC, protein
problems, hearing issues, vision issues. Mom told me that baby had a
protein deficiency - the Drs didn't give her any real information about it
and I have not worked with it. All they told her was that baby needed more
protein than she was getting from breastmilk alone. Apparently she got all
bloated and swollen.and so they put her on alimentum and told mom to
alternate breastmilk and ABM feeds.

Anyone have an input on this one? Since this is a tad outside my experience
I will be pulling my intern (a NICU RN) in on this one in a big way! We
make a great team to be sure. I also put mom in touch with my buddy LC who
lives in her area - a team of 3.can't beat that! Robin - let me know if she
calls you please! :-)

Thank you in advance for any information or links to do more research on
this.

Warmly,

Jaye
