Several of you have had great comments and questions in reaction to my long
post about Dr. Diane Spatz's research on BF outcomes for low birth weight
babies with short length-of-stay at hospital. I am attempting to get some
answers for the queries I could not address from my notes.

I will say this (and I'm willing to bet Dr. Spatz would agree): there are
*always* going to be near-term babies that do beautifully without gadgets or
interventions.

What surprised me when I heard the presentation is that, for the babies who
*do* need interventions, they need them for several weeks.

I will post again if I have more to share on this topic.
