Diane, I tried this positioning from below last evening with a full term baby
with hypoglycemia who wouldn't latch until she got "immediate gratification"
for her efforts.  It was so much easier to latch her on with the tubing
coming from the bottom, rather than trying to latch and "scoop" the tubing
in.  Loved it--much easier for the mom--harder for the baby to bat the tubing
out of her way--and harder for the baby to find just "the straw"  to suck on!
 I'll be continuing to use SNSs this way--I'm a believer!
