Dear friends,
I have a case that is not urgent, does not seem to be medically threatening, but odd. Permission to post.
Woman, 28yo, never been pregnant, healthy apart from some minor allergy-like things and a history of intermittent periods of headaches (predominantly during puberty/adolescence). She has no injury or surgery in her medical history concerning her breasts. Has had an active sexual life with many different contacts (safe sex only), but is in a steady monogamous relation for about 2 years now and ''feeling her biological clock ticking''. Has been using oral contraceptives during puberty and adolescence and is using Mirena for several years now with no complaints. Last december (for about 3 weeks) and now again she experiences breast pain in 1 breast (the slightly bigger one) as if been punched, but no color changes or bruises. Pain is very tolerable, more annoying than really painful. What she describes is typical for clogged ducts or starting sterile mastitis. Palpation does not show any odd masses or anomalies. She does have rather palpable glandular
tissue, rather than the more common diffuse tissues in prepregnant breasts.

What could this be in your combined knowledgeable eyes?

Warmly,

Gonneke, IBCLC in PP, LC lecturer in southern Netherlands
