Dear Marjorie,

Would you be willing to share your bib of articles onlabor events that affect
suck and latch-on? I have been intrigued by this topic. Here's what I have
on the topic:

Crowell et al. "Relationship between obstetrical analgesia and time of
effective breastfeeding," Journal of NurseMidwifery. Vol. 39: No. 3, May/June
1994, pp. 150-156

Kearney, et al. "Cesarean delivery and breastfeeding outcomes," Birth, 17:2,
June 1990, pp 97-103.

Lee and Rubin. "Breastfeeding and anaesthesia," Anaesthesia, 1993, Vol. 48,
pp. 616-625.

Lie, B and J. Juul. "Effect of epidural vs. general anesthesia on
breastfeeding," Acta Obstet Gynecol Scand 67, pp. 207-209.

Matthews, MK. "The relationship between maternal labor anesthesia and delay
in the initiation of breastfeeding in healthy neonates in the early neonatal
period," Midwifery, 5: pp. 3-10, 1989.

Nissen et al. "Effects of maternal pethidine on infants' developing breast
feeding behaviour," Acta Paediatr, 1995, 84: 140-5.

Rajon, L. "The Impact of obstetric procedures and analgesia/anesthesia
during labour and delivery on breastfeeding," Midwifery, 10 (2), pp. 87-103,
June 1994.

Ravin, D. "Narcotic analgesixs and breastfeeding, " Journal of Human
Lacation, 1: 47-50, March 1995.

Septoski et al. "The effects of maternal epidural and anaesthesia on
neonatal behavior during the first month," Developmental Medicine and Child
Neurology, 1992, 34: 1072-1080.

Not much but hopefully there is something new.
