OLYMPIA, Wash. - An abandoned pitt bull mother came to rescue of nine
orphaned black and white border collie puppies after their mother died in a
accident.

The pit bull was found scared, hungry and abandoned outside an Olympia
apartment building on December 13, reported The Olympian.

Thurston County Animal Shelter officials said her teats were engorged with
milk and she limped with pain. It was apparent she had given birth recently,
but there was no sign of her owner or the puppies.

KING

An abandoned pitt bull mother came to rescue of nine orphaned black and
white border collie puppies after their mother died in a accident.

Later that same day, a local family called with a litter of three-week-old
puppies. Their mother had been struck and killed by a car, and the family
could not keep feeding the nine-plus pups.

Under the supervision of staff, they allowed the pit bull to interact with
one of the puppies. The pit bull accepted the puppy right away and happily
let it nurse. And eight other puppies soon followed.
