Hello Amani,
Welcome to Lactnet. One of the sites I often use is that of the
articles written by Dr Jack Newman a Paediatrician in Toronto who is
very supportive of breastfeeding. It is www.breastfeedingonline.com
<http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/> and if you scroll down to # 26
you will see his article called "When the Baby Refuses to Latch On".
About two months ago I had a woman give birth at term following a non
medicated labour. The baby feed well following birth but then wasn't
very interested for the next couple of days. Mum was pretty relaxed
about this but was reassured to read the article. I was able to hand
express the Mum and give all the EBM obtained. Mum was encouraged to do
lots of skin to skin care. She was also being cared for in a birthing
facility which is run by Midwives and so there was no pressure to do any
supplementing. At about day 3 the baby decided that breastfeeding was a
great idea and then didn't look back.
Good luck with your exam and the preparation over these next two months.
