Hello,
I am looking for a reason for a low milk supply. Long story, short
version: I was contacted by a woman with a 5 month old baby diagnosed as
failure to thrive. Baby 11 lbs, off the chart. Baby suck and latch seems
fine. Mom tried pumping, SNS, herbs, you name it. She was very motivated
and really worked hard at this. Thyroid ok (low norm) and prolactin low. No
surprise because by this time the baby was very rarely nursing. She finally
gave-up after really working hard at this for 3 months.

Mom calls today wanting a reason this happened to her. She mentions
for the first time that she only has 1/2 of an ovary. Could this be the
reason her milk supply was so low and then dwindled to nothing? I said I
would ask the collective wisdom of this group and get back to her.

Any ideas? TIA!
